Purpose:
The Wellness Committee for School Nutrition is dedicated to fostering a healthier school environment by promoting balanced eating habits, encouraging physical activity, and supporting overall well-being among students and staff. Our goal is to collaborate with the school community to create a nurturing environment where healthy choices are accessible, appealing, and sustainable.
Objectives:
- Improve Nutrition Standards: Review and enhance the nutritional quality of school meals and snacks to align with the latest dietary guidelines and best practices.
- Promote Healthy Lifestyles: Organize educational programs and activities that encourage healthy eating habits and regular physical activity.
- Engage the Community: Foster partnerships with parents, teachers, local health experts, and community organizations to support wellness initiatives and gather diverse perspectives.
- Evaluate and Adapt: Monitor the effectiveness of wellness policies and initiatives, making adjustments based on feedback and evolving needs.
Meetings:
The committee meets at a minimum of 3 times a year to plan, review, and implement wellness initiatives. Meetings will be scheduled in advance and conducted in person or virtually, ensuring accessibility for all members.
